Ten Easy Steps To Clean An Office Bathroom

Submitted by: Joe Heinbaugh

When it comes to cleaning, I try to stick to the top down approach. This means that I start with the highest things that I can get to. Here is a simple list to follow to ensure that you are doing the best job that you can while you clean an office bathroom.

1. Dust or vacuum the ceiling tiles and in and out duct covers. Starting here lets you get all of the cob webs that could have built up in corners and also allows you to vacuum the HVAC intake grate because those always attract a lot of dust. I always use a backpack vacuum to take care of this.

2. Vacuum off the higher ledges of stall dividers. AT this point I put the vacuum out of the room because you will need it again to hit the floor in a later step.

3. Using a microfiber dust mop, wipe down all of the walls to remove any dust and if there is visible dirt or oils, spray and wipe of with the mop.

4. Using a dry microfiber towel, wipe off the toilet stall dividers. This will remove dust that would be harder to remove once it would get damp from the next step.

5. Spray multi surface cleaning solution onto the dividers and wipe off with a clean microfiber cloth. Make sure to wipe off both the top and bottoms due to those areas being prone to build up.

6. Spray and wipe off all mirrors with a window cleaner or diluted multi surface cleaner. Do not use a full strength multi surface cleaner because it can do harm to the mirror if it reaches the backside.

7. Spray and wipe off all hand towel holders, air hand dryers, and toilet paper dispensers.

8. If the sinks have not been well maintained, you will need to use a stronger tub and tile type of cleaner. Sinks, faucets and the drain strainers have a tendency to get build up of oils, dirt and other things due to high use. If there is build up, spray the area with the tub and tile cleaner and give it ten to fifteen minutes before scrubbing or wiping off the cleaner. In more extreme cases you will have to do this process two or three times to get the results that you are looking for. Sometimes damage to chrome part from the build up can occur and there is nothing that can bring the chrome back.

9. Spray and wipe down the exterior of the urinals. If there is build use a toilet bowl cleaner solution. Spray toilet bowl cleaning solution into the toilets and scrub and let stand for five minutes before finishing the cleaning. If there is extreme build up, use a pommes stone and rub the areas with build up. This should remove what is left behind after the toilet bowl cleaning solution.

10. Use the vacuum to vacuum the floors and removing all of the dust and little bits of paper that end up on the floor. Mop the floor, working your way out of the room.

Using these ten steps you can properly clean an office bathroom
